[full of it]

no ‘poo day 1

Posted in Uncategorized by susieyarbs on May 5, 2009

i did it!  yesterday at the grocery store i picked up some apple cider vinegar, and i thought i would wait until my spray bottles came in to actually give this a shot, but this morning i just decided to go ahead and start.  it went great!  i’d post a picture, but picture how my hair normally looks, and that’s how it looks.  it actually feels a bit smoother than normal.  i was expecting it to be difficult to brush, but it felt exactly the same as if i’d used conditioner, no tangles whatsoever.  a lot of people hate the apple cider vinegar smell, but it doesn’t bother me.  the smell has stuck around a little bit in my hair, but i’ve heard it shouldn’t, so next time i’ll just use less.  my hair is short enough that i probably don’t need the full tablespoon per cup anyway.  my plan is to slowly increase the days between washing, although i’m sure that if i start to look greasy at all i’ll wash it.  so, tomorrow i’ll just wet it, then the next i’ll wash it, then i’ll go two days without, then three, etc, until i find what works.  i’m excited!

i’m also excited about this new coffee i got!  i try to convince myself that i don’t like flavored coffee beans, and that i prefer the house blend of my local roaster, but every time i go over to my dad’s house he has some kind of french vanilla or hazelnut coffee and i can’t help it.  i love it.  so at the store yesterday i got some hazelnut flavored whole bean coffee, and it’s DELICIOUS.  it’s almost like a different drink completely.  normally i do go down the street to the beanery to get coffee; they roast their beans on site and they’re SUPER fresh and awesome.  when i run them through our grinder they come out looking almost wet…they pack down really easily, stick to your fingers.  these beans i just bought (i’m going to go ahead and guess they weren’t roasted in the last five days) ground up looking really dry and powdery.  oh well.  they still taste good.

time to head to ups so i can send off some mother’s day presents, then i’ll figure out whether or not i’m working today.  holler.

    hi susie,

i found your blog through anne’s…you might remember me as one of the three who crashed y’all’s easter lunch in the woodlands. sometimes it’s just nice to know who’s reading your blog!

also, i’m LOVING this no-shampoo idea. i think i’m going to try it! i was just about fed up with my hair products anyway. i want to see some pictures if your hair turns out great! one question…do you have to make the mixtures every day before you wash your hair, or can you make one big batch at once?

    Hi Susie!

I love your blog. I’ve been using cider vinegar for years as a rinse for my hair. Haven’t tried the shampoo recipe, but definitely you’ve inspired me to try it. I’ll let you know how it works on my colored hair.

Can you believe Lynn and Rick are moving to LIBYA? I can hardly say it!

    love, Judi
