nuts!

soap nuts! (or soap berries, if you prefer)

it’s a berry. it grows on trees. it washes your clothes. ok ok, it doesn’t actually do your laundry for you, but it does replace your laundry detergent. they’re hypo-allergenic, they’re antimicrobial. they’ll clean your clothes, your windows, your hair. mother nature is really into them, i’ve heard. no chemicals against your skin! no chemicals down the drain! also a little bag for $22 does 150-200 loads of laundry…so…win.

i’m going to give them a shot. i’ll let you know how it goes.

if any of you have any remedies for ridiculously dry and itchy skin, lay ’em on me. this is getting out of hand. so far i’ve tried a mineral oil based moisturizer to use in the shower and extra strength gold bond body lotion with dimethicone and menthol. wasn’t i just talking about no chemicals against your skin? i just don’t know how else to fix this. i’m like a bear; i want to rub my back up against a tree. are there any oils that my skin would actually absorb quickly and not turn me into a grease ball?

    Hi sweetie,

I was going to suggest gold bond but then re read and realized you already tried that. i do love gold bond though. Anyway, the sweet little baby I’ve been caring for has bouts of eczema and we treat it with an organic baby lotion. hope you’re feeling better by the time you get this…

      Hey there,

I know it sounds rediculous, but for me with dry, itchy skin (I used to get it really bad under my eyes, all flaky nasty, eeewww..), anyhoo, I found that if I put vasaline on the spots overnight (and I mean heavy globs of the stuff) that in a week or so it would go away. Hope this helps. As far as the soap berries go, what are your results? I wonder if they helped clear up your skin. I’ve been using them now for a few months, and my laundry comes out smelling clean, fresh, and actually feeling soft. I was able to elliminate my dryer sheets. Amazing! I found mine through http://www.soapberrysolutions.com. The cool thing about them is that for every purchase, they donate a months worth of soap to a family in need.

      Hope your rash gets better!

      Katie
